Natura CabanasWrite a Review
Enjoy an unforgettable vacation in the peace, health and tranquility that is Natura Cabañas!
Natura Cabañas was born in 1996, it was Pablo´s and Lole´s idea, a couple from Chile that arrived in Dominican Republic to create a place were nature meets the spirit. Natura Cabañas is part of the ecotourism defined as: ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation. The flora and fauna are mixed with the rustic architecture of the palm-thatched roof cabañas.
Conveniently located just 15 minutes from Puerto Plata International Airport and 7 minutes from Cabarete, the windsurfing, surfing and kite surfing capital of the Caribbean.
Natura Cabañas is a tropical dream, where people live in harmony with nature. The waves crashing against coral rock is the only tangible sound in this tranquil environment. Surrounded by century-old royal palms, visualize a Garden of Eden, where the rains color everything green. In this paradisiacal garden, avocados, mandarin oranges and passion fruit drop from the trees - even almonds.
We invite you to enjoy our ecologically sensitive beach bungalows for 2, 4 and 6 guests.
Unlike a conventional hotel, accommodations are not just a room with numbers. Each is a separate bungalow with colorful names: Cabaña India, Caracol, Caribe Laja, Playa, Piedra, Coral and Mexicali. Interiors are rustic, constructed with wood, bamboo, stone coral tiles and with seductive lighting akin to cinematography. Most of the palapas have kitchenettes. All have mini-fridges including the newest, second-story, cabaña Africana, with walls of laja stone.
Environmentally sensitive, much of the furniture is handcrafted from bamboo and coco palms that were cut to make way for the gardens and walkways. Here guests "duermen con los ángeles" (sleep with the angels), lulled by the sounds of the sea and the whir of the overhead fan petals. With the ocean breezes there is no need for air conditioning. Hammocks and hammock swings make you never want to leave your front porch!
"Fangotherapy" - Mud Baths and Dead Seas Salt Scrubs.

The outdoor a la carte restaurant, where lunch and dinner are served, looks out onto a spectacular, savage beach as does the new restaurant adjacent. There, breakfast, made from wholesome, all-natural ingredients, is served. It varies daily, crepes, eggs, Dominican specialties like mangu (mashed, cooked green bananas), pancakes, waffles, omelets, and always fresh-squeezed juice and homemade breads and cakes. As the day progresses into night, New Age music is played as are cards, chess, backgammon and other board games.
A Chilean chef, reigns at the original restaurant, where the freshest of seafood is the big draw, along with international, vegetarian and Dominican dishes. Guests enjoy sitting at the bar and watching the chef passionately working in the open kitchen, as a good brand of music competes with the crashing of the surf.
You will want to explore our physically beautiful island. You can rent a jeep, four wheel-drive vehicles or a mountain bike from us and do it your way. Tours and excursions are available to help discover this island. Or our staff can plan day trips to Jarabacoa, wistfully named the Dominican Alps, or to a nearby water theme park.
We believe, also, that through sports one learns about a country. Horseback ride through valleys and small Dominican villages. Follow a creek and then dismount and jump into giant tubes and ride the river.
We invite you to try the new water sport of the millennium-kite surfing. Cabarete Beach is the windsurfing destination of the Caribbean. Here the Atlantic Ocean surf is almost always up and we're happy to arrange for you to get up on a board. Scuba diving in Sosúa Bay, with its coral reef, is renown, and golfers are thrilled to play the acclaimed oceanfront golf courses in the area.......and don't forget our Hatha yoga lessons.
