"Very good location!"
Jun 2010
I stayed 6 nights at the hotel (from May 26 to June 1). I made an online reservation, and I called the hotel to reconfirm my reservation (everything was perfect). The hotel only accepts cash, even though they ask for a credit card to make an online reservation. I requested for taxi service from and to the airport, but I only got service (on time) when I arrived to Santo Domingo...From the hotel to the airport was a nightmare, the taxi driver did not show up, and I did not get any explanation from the hotel at all (I had to run like crazy looking for a taxi on the street, and was about 4h30 am). It is a small hotel, very safe, good location, and very professional and friendly employees (Juan, Alberto, Raoul, and the night shift Boys). The main door is locked 24h/day for security reasons, which I find it excellent (there is always someone from the hotel to open it). The room was ok, clean (no housekeeping service), with A/C, TV (did not work while I was there), free internet (bring with your laptop), mini-fridge, fresh towels (you can ask to exchange for clean ones if you need), and a bar of soap. The location is really convenient, and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is convenient for single travelers, and people who want to enjoy the city and not the hotel room.
"The feel of a guest house"
Apr 2010
While technically the Foreigner's Club is a hotel, the atmosphere is more inline with a traditional guest house or B&B. This is because the building itself is boutique. In addition, a guest really can get to know the staff and other guests well. The hotel has an intimate lobby where people could (and often did) chat with each other and share photos/stories of their travels. The staff makes a concerted effort to know their guests and offers suggestions from places to eat, ways to handle pushy shoeshine boys on the Conde, or warnings about local trouble-makers. The staff also are well-connected in the community and can provide a wide gambit of recommendations if the guests merely ask. The hotel is without pretense and simple in accommodation. The hot water in the bathrooms take a minute to warm up but otherwise all functions well. <br>I would not recommend this hotel to someone seeking a Michelin rating. However, if you are seeking a low-key, unfussy, hotel where you can make friends and simply relax all for a very reasonable price, then give the Foreigner's Club a try.
"Comfortable experience"
Apr 2010
I have stayed at the Foreigners Club Hotel a number of times over the past several years and find it to be a comfortable and affordable place to stay. The staff has always been very helpful and often will accompany my friends and I on day trips to the beach, night clubs and shopping. They have always looked out for their guest. I find the location convenient to places that I go most often when I'm in Santo Domingo. The Hotel is also a place where you can easily meet other travelers from around the world. I will be staying there again on my next trip.
