Default Re: No wonder they leave Hati for the DR

I heard Cadet being interviewed about the book on a public radio station here in NYC a few weeks ago. I have seen similiar situations in some Dominican homes when I lived in the DR. There are many differences between the two countries but many children are given to families with more resouces to do all housework and chores. These children are not treated as sons and daughters, are not allowed to eat at the same table with the family, do not use the front door when entering the house and are treated as second class citizens. Their education usually ends when they enter high school. I have heard many wealthy dominicans speak of the difficulty of finding domestics and I predict we will eventually see Haitian women assume this role in the DR.
