Visiting the Dominican Republic from 2/27-3/7. First time visit. Seeking highlights and must sees, any advise from locals or people in the know appreciated. Planning on being in Santo Domingo (including a wedding party) for the first 2/3?s of the trip, then off to a beach for the remaining 1/3. Staying in the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo. Interested in cultural and local sites, Architecture (new and old), museums, galleries, local gay life, Restaurants and Food, and things only to be seen in the DR. Seeking particular shops, markets, restaurants, streets, buildings or day trips you would recomend.
