Do Canadians need a passport?

I am getting conflicting information from travel agents and am wondering if anyone can tell me if us canadians need passports yet,last year we did not require this but this year...do we??? Hope to stay in DR for about 4 months.

No, Canadian citizens do not need a passport. I birth certificate and some kind of photo id is needed if not using a passport. Since you were going for four months if I were you I would get a passport for protection needs. Have a great trip!
