Default Golf

My husband is an avid golfer and I would like to find a good 18 hole golf course that is not horribly expensive near the capital or in the northern part of the island. I've done some research and it appears that golf is quite expensive. Anyone have information on discounts ect.? Thanks for your help Julia

Golf in the Dominican Republic

A comprehensive Directory of Public Golf Courses throughout the DR

Golf is one of the Dominican Republic's top attractions, bringing thousands of tourists in droves to this destination. What makes golf so popular is the combination of outstanding year round summer weather and the varied terrain. Caribbean weather allows for play even during rainy days, when brief showers quickly give way to clear skies. Course architects have incorporated hills and coastline into the design to doubly challenge the golfers.

I was also looking for golf info and got a reply from a guy who said when you are done playing you are expected to tip the caddy about 300 DR$ (which is another $20 usd). He only knew this to be the case at Playa Dorada, but it could be at other places as well.

FYI,

There are no caddies at Barcelo Bavaro Resort, but you must take a cart at $40 per twosome.
