Default TAXI

I will arrive at Santo Domingo airport, but i will stay in Cabarete. I wonder how much it cost to take a taxi or is there other alternatives to get there. Is it possible to take a bus and in that case how much is it and how long does it take. Thanks Lindha.

Default Re: TAXI

I suggest you book one night at a Santo Domingo Hotel. May I suggest the new Sofitel Hotel Francés in the Colonial City. Since you will be here, spend a day to see the first catehdral in the new world, from where the Spaniards plotted the discovery of the New World, the Columbus Lighthouse, and the city of Santo Domingo in general. Have the hotel get you a city tour. Note Santo Domingo will host the Pan Am Games in year 2003, so it is a shame not to see the city.

Also note that the airport is about half an hour from Santo Domingo, about a US$20 fare, and note that traffic jams could add another half an hour for you to get to your hotel. And then you need to take a US$5.50 (RD$85) bus to Sosua (Caribe Tours), and then a minibus or taxi to Cabarete (RD$20 vs. RD$200 about). The buses depart at 7 8 9 10 11 in the morning, and 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in the afternoon.

Again, our recommendation is to overnight in Santo Domingo, take a morning city tour and leave about on the last bus to Sosua, then take a cab from the bus terminal to your hotel in Cabarete.
