Default Spiders

Are there any of the "large" variety in D.R. If so, where and are they poisonous?? Also, can anyone tell me their opinion of Juan Dolio as a resort destination. Thank you.

Spiders are need banana plantations. i have never seen one in a resort or condo. A friend of mine said that Talengera resort in Juan Dolio was still repairing their resort a couple of weeks ago, but I don't know to what extent.

There are several varieties of tarantulas which are all poisonous but not dangerously so to adults. It is most unlikely you will see any within resorts. In the countryside they are very common, but still are rarely a problem. They are only active at night. Don't worry about them! Bob.

We get tarantulas in the house every now. We just take a broom and sweep them outside. They are beautiful and certainly not aggressive.

Personally I wouldn't want to vacation in Juan Dolio. Not much going on there and the beach is not especially great. I met some people who stayed at an all-inclusive there and were itchy to see the rest of the country. How about a couple nights in Juan Dolio, a couple in Santo Domingo and a couple in the La Romana area and perhaps even Bavaro? You'll see much more of the island and its people and have a better time.
