Santa Domingo to Puerto Plata

can anyone help ? I need to know how much it is to get from S.D. airport to Hacienda Resorts in Puerto Plata either by plane, taxi, bus or any other way possible. Could you also tell me how far it is and how long it takes. Thanks in advance. DEBS.

You are arriving on the wrong side of the island. If possible change your travel plans to arrive by way of the Puerto Plata International Airport. If this is not possible, your options are to take a taxi into Santo Domingo's Herrera airport (about US$16) and take a one hour Air Santo Domingo flight (about US$48) to Puerto Plata (note your flight would have to coincide with this flight); take a taxi to Puerto Plata (about US$100), or take a Metro Bus or Caribe Tours Bus (that leave several times a day and will cost about US$5). The best option is to take the bus. It is an about 3-1/2 hour drive to cross the island from South to North. The scenery is beautiful at times and interesting when you pass through cities. Take a sweater if you go by bus because the bus air conditioners are usually on at full blast.

Another option would be to rent a car. National has a terminal at the Airport and in PP. Its about a 4-5 hour drive, all on marked highways

Depending on the number traveling, this may be more practical.

Taking the Metro Bus would be your best bet. You get to the station in Puerto Plata and then you can take a taxi. But, set a price before you get into the taxi.

During the Christmas/New Year time, we took the advise of DR1 and took the Metro bus from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata. It was great. The bus is much more comfortable than U. S. buses, coffee and small cookie condiments were served on board. Yes, the air conditioners are fairly cool. The price was best of all. 180 pesos for the two of us each way. Service and travel was superb. I still can't thank DR1 enough for their assistance to us. I recommend you do the same. You'll be pleased.
