Where is Polo.

Can someone tell me where the town of Polo is. I understand that it is in the mountains. My girlfriend is living there for a month with a friend and I'm courious as to what it is like and what the nearest city is. If anyone can give me info I'd appreciate it. Also I realize that there is no phone in her home,but they travel into a village where there is a public phone and fax machine. Is there anyway to find out how to get in touch with her through that means or would be impossible to track her to the right location. Would she recieve a fax if I sent her one. Again any info would help.

There is a town by that name in the southern part of the country only a few miles from the city of Barahona. It is near the Rio Yaque del sur river.

Polo is situated in the Southern Westerly part of the island near the town of Barahona. You take a right just before arriving to Barahona. When you get to a town called Cabral you take a left. You would follow the road into the hills passing Polo Magnetico. Here a car appears to climb up a hill on its own when you release the handbreak. You will soon arrive in the town of Polo. This region is famous for it’s coffee plantations. It’s probably safe to say that it produces the best coffee in the DR.
