Bahia Principe

I have booked a week at the above hotel , has anyone been there that can tell me what kind of place it is and whether its a hygenic and safe place to be. As i am taking a group of 7 there and they are fairly old people, But recently i have heard some bad press regarding the DR and am getting a little worried. The resort is Bahia Principe and the hotel is Club Bahia Principe.
