Well Mike....I live down here.

The Napolitano Hotel isn't the best down here. It's like a 3 or 4 star hotel. Rooms are ok, if you are traveling by yourself.

The Jaragua Hotel, The V Centenario(Quinto Centenario), The Lina Hotel are excellent. The top. All are 5 stars.

Then you have other hotels like "El Cervante" which I would never recomemd and "El Continental" which is a small hotel also.

My choose if not a five star, well "El Napolitano".

The Napolitano is far from being a dump, but there are certainly better hotels on the Malecon. If money is not a problem, then I'd recommend staying at the Renassaince Jaragua, the Inter-Continental or the Melia Santo Domingo. Not in the middle of the action of the Malecon, but located there nevertheless is the Hotel Santo Domingo, a very classy place. Personally, I recommend the Jaragua. For my wedding this past June, I had my US guests (about 26 people) stay there and they LOVED it.

Hope this helps, Natasha

Default Just to clarify...

The Inter-Continental is the same as the V Centenario.
