Default DR ONE need your help...

I will be staying in Punta Cana (Bavaro area) and I need information on bus transportation to La Romana. Does Caribe or Metro tours have bus service to La Romana? Where is the bus terminal in Punta Cana (Bavaro)? What would be the bus schedule, cost and legnth of trip? I would like to make a day trip from Bavaro to Higuey, get off and visit, hop on the next bus to La Romana, get off visit the city and Altos de Chavon, Casa de Campo, hop on the last bus back to Bavaro. Is this possible all in the same day? I would also like to know if a bus goes to La Otra Banda? I would like to give the gifts and school supplies that I'm bringing, to the school that is located in this town. Thank you once again "DR ONE" for your precious help!! Claire

Claire, I cannot answer your question today (my husband is screaming at me, we have to go). I'll talk with a dominican friend tomorrow night(she lives in Higuey).I don't know at what time is the last bus from La Romana to Higuey neither the last one from Higuey to Punta Cana. I'll answer your question when I'll get all the information you need (by tomorrow night or Tuesday morning). Lyse

I assume wou'll be staying in the Cortecito area. The small bus (guagua) passes on the small road behind the Cortecito Inn. The main entrance of the Carabela Beach Resort is on that road.

There is no direct bus Bavaro - La Romana. As for Higuey - Bavaro - Higuey, the big buses don't stop wherever you want. The best for you would be to take the guagua Bavaro - Higuey. There is one every 20-30 minutes (15 pesos one way, about 60-70 minutes drive). Tell them that you want to get off at La Otra Banda in front of the public school.(it should cost about 10 pesos, 45-50 minutes drive).

When you'll be done with the school supplies, take the next guagua heading for Higuey. Tell them to drop you off at the bus station for La Romana (la parada para La Romana)It's near the basilica.

There are big buses and guagua for La Romana (15-20 pesos one way, 45 minutes drive). You'll get off at la parada para Altos de Chavon. I don't know the price for the guagua La Romana - Altos de Chavon (15 minutes drive). In my opinion there is not much to see in La Romana.

The last big bus Santo Domingo - Higuey leaves SD at 19:00 to stop in La Romana around 21:00 and arrives in Higuey around 21:45. There also are guagua La Romana - Higuey I don't know at what time leaves the last one, It should not be before 19:00

From what I know, the last guagua Higuey - Bavaro leaves at 19:00 and you cannot take it at the station near the basilica, you have to go to la parada para Bavaro. Maybe the guagua from La Romana goes to that parada, if not you could take a concho (motorcycle taxi, 5 pesos per person daytime)or walk 20 minutes.

It seems you want to do a lot in one day. If you need more informations, feel free. Lyse
