Re: Working in the DR
I worked in the DR for 2 years, from 1992 to 1994. At that time it was easy to find jobs in resorts but they are very strict in regards to working visas now. As for English instructors, you must be fluent in Spanish to even qualify. Puerto Plata has many smaller schools that promote themselves as English schools, it would be a matter of going to visit them. Keep in mind that the pay is very low, at one time I was told RD1500.00 per month. I wish you luck and make sure you check with your local Dominican consulate on working visa requirements. I lived there when Belaguer was in power but I heard Fernandez is a lot stricter!!
