how fun is the nightlife in dominican republic

My husband and I are Swiss of 27 years old. Would we be provided with detailed information on how 'big' and 'fun' the nightlife in Dominican republic, for our summer holidays. please name some famous ones in some citys. thank you.

You do not say where in the DR you will be staying. Nightlife is best in Santo Domingo -- a city that never sleeps, with hundreds of bars, cafes, discos and outdoor big parties taking place several times, such as during Carnival, Christmas, New Year's, Merengue Festival (July-August). Puerto Plata, on the North Coast, has good night life, see the DR1 travel pages (North Coast Nights). Next, is the nightlife in Boca Chica, a beach town half an hour east of the capital. Nightlife in Juan Dolio is limited to the hotels and one or two discos, ditto for La Romana. If you are staying at the East Coast hotels, your choices are even more limited. In the Punta Cana area there is the Tropicalissimo show at Bavaro and then the night life provided by your individual hotel.
