Playa Naco hotel

We are looking for anyone who has been to this hotel in 1999! we have visited this resort last year and are wondering if much has changed? How much was the departure tax at the airport? I heard that it went up but I would like to verify that with someone who has been there this year. How was the food? AND the Booze? appreciate any comments.

Departure tax has not changed. It continues to be US$10.

Hi Jim and Theresa & Terry and Gloria, I just returned from a wonderful week at the Playa Naco resort. I enjoyed my stay there but I must be honest and tell you that I had trouble with the room. We had a standard room, which was a fair size, but there were ants in the bathroom. I don't mean a few ants, I mean crawling with ants! I asked to be moved and all the hotel front desk staff would do was fumigate our room. To make a long story short, two fumigations did not get rid of the ants so finally on the last two nights I managed to kick up enough fuss that they moved us...to a room that had a leaking air conditioner! We had bad luck with the rooms! However, other people who were on the trip with us had seen only a few ants in their rooms, which is tolerable. Besides this, the beach sports, pool side entertainment and nightly entertainment is all great. My next trip there I will probably stay at the Grand Ventana (I think that's the correct name) since it is a new 5 star hotel. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email. Sonya! a buddie of mine just returned last week! he has been to the d.r. 5 times~~~~ he said this place should be condemded!!!!! he said everything was rotten from the time he got off the plane??????? just passing on the info ~~~ sorry! mark :-)

His first five visits must have been well to warrant the sixth. Maybe he has a bad day?

They must be adding the entry (tourist card) tax. It costs US$10 to enter and another US$10 to depart.

According to Air Transat departure tax has been changed to 20$ US

We just got back from staying at the Playa Naco. (Feb 4 - 18, 1999) We thought everything was great! The food was very fresh. The room we stayed in was fabulous. No bugs. not one. Another couple we went with changed rooms on the first day because they had just finished painting and the fumes were too strong. Their new room was great. They had a gecko in the room one day. They didn't have any trouble changing rooms. We flew on a direct Air Transat flight and only had to pay $10 US each on the way back.
