Default Is the food that bad????

I'm starting to get worried. I have enough stress with my wedding and a house. I don't want to worry about eating. I want to be there to relax. I'm going to the Bavaro Palace. Should I be overly concerned. What is safe to eat, and what should I avoid???

The food at the Bavaro complex is excellent. We have stayed there three times and the minor problems we had were nothing that some immodium couldn't fix. I don't know about some of the other complexes mentioned, but we have made eight trips to the Dominican Republic (puerto plata, santo domingo, and punta cana)and always enjoyed ourselves immensly! The beaches are the most beautiful at Bavaro......you'll see!

The buffets always offer countless items to choose from, so it's up to you if you want to eat conventionally or try some new dishes. You can stop worrying about your trip. Relax and enjoy the fact that you've chosen one of the finest resorts that I've been to, and I think you'll agree. Make sure and eat at La Brisa - it's right on the beach. The food and service is great, and it offers a wonderful setting for a relaxing and romantic dinner.

Enjoy. Fred

Very well said Fred. May I add "and avoid too much of everything, eating and drinking." Of course,I'm not talking of bottled water.

Congratulations! Four of us from NJ & PA just returned from Bavaro Beach on March 4. None of us got sick. The complex is absolutely beautiful and the mood is always romantic. There were about 11 restaurants to choose from - some a la carte and some buffet - so you can be as adventurous as you like. We really limited the fruit drinks and stuck with beer and bloody marys. If you do things like eating, drinking and sunbathing in moderation, you'll be fine. Take Immodium with you and maybe an antiacid and this should cover most intestinal ailments. You can go horseback riding for $18 for one hour at the Golf resort-make reservations at the reception area of your hotel. They had jet skis or waverunners but they were up on the sand because the gov't or something won't allow them to be used. There's plenty to keep you occupied so stop worrying - you'll have the time of your life. Enjoy.

I don't want to make you worry any more then ness. But we just got back from Punta Cana. It was GREAT. But you have to be carful.Don't drink the water, brush your teeth w/ bottled water do not eat fruit or uncooked veggies as they may have come incontact w/ tap water. Don't drink anything not out of a can or bottle. Watch the ice ask if is of purified water. I'm only telling all this so you will be prepared as no one warned me, The water is bad it will make you sick. We got very sick and so did most of the people we spoke with. ANd we did take some precousions. See your doctor befor you go!!! It realy is a beautiful place just be warned about the water and the food it comes incontact with.

I can't wait to get out of New Jersey for our honeymoon. I just want everything to be as close to perfect as possible. Did you happen to notice if they rent Waverunners??? And, would you recommend anywhere special to go horseback riding??

Thanks.....

Have eaten at most of the hotels in not only Bavaro, but around the island. Never gotten sick and I exist on mostly fresh fruit and vegetables. Although it is true that if you do not have purified water, don't drink or brush teeth with it.

What you need to watch is how much sun you take and how much alcohol you consume. This can cause problems - especially pina coladas as this has laxative properties. If you eat a lot of fruit and vegetables you may get temporary problems, but this should pass after a day. If it is violent or lasts longer than a day, visit the on-site doctor. If you do have bacteria they can fix that too.

Have a nice honeymoon.

What do you mean about the Govt not allowing Waverunners?
