What's this 'book fair'?

The book fair is just that, a book fair. Most of the larger book stores and publishing houses in the DR or those that are represented here have exhibits. It has been taking place on the grounds of the National Music Conservatory on Cesar Nicolas Penson corner Alma Mater. It draws thousands of Dominicans who go to buy books. The stores offer discounts. It is a family activity. Schools take their students, too.

Hello, my name is peter jordan and at the end of april i am going to have the chance and opportunity to visit your great country, the Dominican Republic. I am going during Santo Domingo's large book fair, and don't know anything about it, if you could respond back to me about this book fair. I would like to know as much about it as possible: it's purpose, who organizes and sponsors it, the usual turn out, who actually does show up, and the merchandise available, and again any info you can tell me....
