Transport from Samana to Las Terranas

Does anyone know what methods of transporation are available from Samana to Las Terranas and back again? And about how long does the trip take?? Thanks, Mia

We rented a car. It took about 1 1/2 hours to drive. It is not that far but the terrain is a bit rough, up and down some steep inclines. It was worth it too. Very beutiful view from up top and Los Lerranas is very pretty, very serene.

I was there about 10 days ago, If you go from the Samana end, it is a very tough drive for anything but a 4x4, but little if any traffic. From the easterly side, it is an "experience" if you have never driven severe Mountain switchbacks with bus traffic constantly coming and going

Tom, You mentioned bus traffic coming and going. Does that mean that there are busses from Samana to Terranas?? Are the publicos, metros?? Thanks for your reply. Mia

I honestly didn't check into that, I had a rental car, but they were tour busses.

Others can correct me if I am wrong, from what I recall when I was there, publicos and local buses are available from Samana (the city) to Las Terrenas, but I think you will have to go through Sanchez. Taxis are also readily available, but of course more expensive. The two main tour buses, Metro and Caribe, do not travel to Las Terrenas. Your best bet is to probably hire a taxi and negociate a round trip price. I personally would just take the local bus. Hope this helps.
