Motorcycles in DR

Does anyone here have any experience with motorcycles in DR?

What is the average used cost of a motorcycle? What are the laws regarding helmets? Are other drivers respectful of motorcycles?

And what about bodyboarding, where are the good sites? I guess each area has it good days and not so good ones! (Cause everyday I'm not 6 feet under is a good day!! smile)

How about sailing clubs? Where are the yachts clubs? Is there sailing schools for the locals? (Non-profit programs?)

Anyone can tell me what is the nightlife like in DR? Compare to North American clubs? Any opinions are great!

There are sailing clubs in Santo Domingo (Santo Domingo Yacht Club and Ozama River yacht club, Haina Yacht Club). Of these the Santo Domingo Yacht Club at Andrés, near Boca Chica, offers sailing instruction for children. You would have to check out the schedule of the classes, probably they are more active in the summer time. These classes are sponsored by the Sailing Federation (non-profit) and mostly use Sun Fish sailboats. Other yacht clubs/sailing clubs are located in La Romana (Club de Caza y Pesca), Cabeza de Toro and Punta Cana Marina (East Coast, Punta Cana area), and Monte Cristi (on the Northwest coast).

I'm going to Santo Domingo next week for (4) nights. I'm a single male. Can anyone suggest the hottest nightclubs to hopefully meet some local ladies.

If you will be in Puerto Plata, I can say that the NightLife is one of the best places to be!! Some (but not much) American music in the Disco's, but lots of local music which is great!! Very friendly staff, cheap to drink... lots of dancing!!

The best nightlife in the DR is in Santo Domingo, a city that never sleeps. The nights topic has been covered several times on this board. Do a search typing in "nights", "night life" of the message board archive. See the link at the top of the index page of the board.

One of the best discos in Santo. Dom is the Guacara Taino. It's a spectacular converted cave that is very unique.
