Re: SPIDERS/They aren't interested in you
Cmon Becky, as one person from New Your so rudely stated All of up in Maine are "Moose Kissers," not spider thieves.
Yes, we have the "usual" New England variety of spiders, Daddy Long Legs to some good sized garden spiders. There have been stories of people being bit by the Brown recluse, but never confirmed.
I used to hunt, now I do photography of animals wehn I wish to go hunting, have yet to see abear, but have found their "markings"
Most "dangerous" animals, insects etc want nothing to do with humans.
I did have one "amusing" incident with snakes: While living in Kentucky, we were cautioned o wear heavy boots due to possible "COPPERHEADS" in the area, a snake whose bite cause nasty complications, but rarely death. They are near impossible to see and only attack when stepped on or similarl threatened. I inquired as to how you would be aware of their presence and was told they emit an odor of "Cucumbers" when threatened. Knowing this, I avoided all salad related orders while in the woods.
Back to the subject, I hate spiders, but leave them alone and they leave me alone. I don't doubt there are a multitude of spiders in a tropical area such as the DR, but in all my times visiting, I have never been bothered
