Bahia Principe Resort, Puerto Plata

We are looking for info about the Bahia Principe Resort in Puerto Plata. Have visited DR eight times, looking for new place to visit. Any info would be helpful.

Hi Fred, I don't know where you got your information from, but I am sorry to tell you that you have been misinformed: Bahia Principe Resort is not in Puerto Plata - it is located near Rio San Juan, more or less 1-1/2 hour from Puerto Plata. Living in DR for more than three years, in Puerto Plata, I have never visited Bahia Principe but I have pass in front of it many times. From the outside I can tell you that it looks inviting, lots of small bungalows in a great location. I do not know how is their beach, but everywhere I have been near or at Rio San Juan, the beaches were beautiful, and the water crystal clear. Also, on two different occasions, I have spoken with europeans that were staying there, and they were extremely pleased with the quality of the rooms, the service, the food, the entertainment, in other words, everything, and, it is not yet pleaged by the timeshare people. So, have a great vacation.

Thanks so much for the info. I was aware that the resort wasn't actually in Puerto Plata, but I didn't know it was that far. We are concerned with the resort itself, as long as we here good reports, that's what truly matters. I'm glad to hear the good things you've passed along from others, now we feel more comfortable with this as an option.
