Default Puerto Plata Village

A friend of mine and I got back from the DR March 22nd. We were there for 1 week and loved every second of it. We enjoyed it so much that we wanted to go back in April. We stayed at Puerto Plata Village Resort in the Playa Dorado area. Before we left for the DR we couldn't find much info. on this resort and were curious to what we would find. I just want to let everyone know that this resort is excellent. Very clean, safe and a lot fun. It has a huge pool and a kiddy pool both were very clean, the resort itself consisted of many different buildings. Some were suites and some had 12 rooms in them. There was lots of area to stroll around the grounds without going off the resort. It had four different places to eat, three were for reservation only and the fourth was buffet style. There was always plenty to pick from. The staff is was so entertaining and friendly we were sad to leave them. We met a lot of people and we will definitely be going back to that resort again. We also went on the Monster Jeep tour through the countryside which was very educational about the Dominican culture. It was well worth the money. I recommend both of these to anyone considering a vacation there.

Hola Stacey, I just got back from PP and stayed at The Mountain View Hotel (not all inclusive.. party time, rooms alittle small but clean.. pool, bar, it cost 400 pesos a night). I also stayed at the Portofino Guest House (bigger than the other, pool, less noise and a restaurant right there it cost 300 pesos a night).. I recommend these both.

I was so happy to see a positive response to a hotel, and even happier because I used to work there. Puerto Plata Village is a very wonderful place, and yes, it is very clean and the staff is trained vigoursly. Now for the second pat of this thread, why don't you stay with your boyfriends' family if he is originally from the DR, as that is the only way you will appreciate the Dominican culture. I have been in every type of Dominican home from the barrios to the upper class and you will never understand a true Dominican until you have experienced their home and culture. Just a thought, Marlie
