Default DR Citizenship for US kids?

My Dominican wife and US born kids are visiting relatives in Sto Dom.

What has to be done to secure DR citizenship / Cedula / Passport for the kids?

Thanks for the help,

Jim

Question Jim...your kids are US born, why would they need to have a cedula or DR citizenship? As far as the passport, they do not need one to travel there however I recommend that they have one as it makes traveling easier. Obtaining a US passport for children is the same as for an adult except they are only valid for 5 years.

They qualify for Dominican citizenship, but it is a time-consuming process. See the SEREX web site for initial information, look under SEREX (Services) in the English version. You will need someone to follow up on the paperwork. I would check with Fabio Guzman, a lawyer who does this kind of paperwork, to find out what it costs. His web site is at http://www.drlawyer.com
