Please, can anyone send me directions how to make fried platanos? I would really appreciate it!

Hi Chantelle,

For you cook fried bananas "fritos ó tostones" in spanish. Clean and cut the banana, put oil in the frying pan wait for is hot put the banana wait for 20 minutes until you see the banana is a little yellow and you pierce with the fork and is a little soft, before take out and crush with a cup or can and put again in the frying pan wait 2 or 3 minute and is ready.

1-peel the green banana (platano) o yellow banana (platano maduro)the yellow banana are sweet . 2- cut the platano about 1inch long in angle about 45 degree 3- put oil corn or any king the oil you like. 4- way until the oil get hot. 5- put the piece the platano about 20 min. for green and 15 min. for yellow. 6- when turn like yellow take out. 7- get 2 piece wood 6 inch diam.( TOSTONERA) 8- put the piece platano in between and crush about 1/4 inch flat. 9- put back in the oil (hot) about 2 o 3 min. and take out 10-READY TO EAT THE REST IS EASY ENJOY.

I would like to add that if you're cooking yellow or ripe bananas, then there is no need to re-fry them a second time like you do with green bananas. This depends on how well riped the yellow banana is. Also, if you don't have a "tostonera" (I miss having one myself) then you can use two cutting boards. This works the same way. Finally, some people sprinkle lime juice on fried green bananas when they are done. My faminly never did, so it's a personal preference. Enjoy!!
