good buys

The info I've got from this board so far has been superb. Next question, what does the island produce that would be a good investment/saving and where is the best place to buy. I've heard that amber is one such item. Wanting the real thing where are the rip off outlets? Who can we trust? We come out in August/September and are staying in Luperon for two weeks.
