Default marriage records

I am trying to find the marriage record of a good friend of mine. She was married sometime between 1986 through 1991. Not absolutely sure of the date. Her name was Robbin N (Downs)Henshaw and she married a man named Victor, not sure of his last name. He died later, from a stabbing in Panama and she died in 1992. Is there anyone there who can help me find this record as there is a considerable inheritance involved. Any help is appreciated and will be rewarded. The marriage was performed somewhere in the Dominican Republic. Immediate reply is requested.

This is a very difficult request. It is possible, but you would practically have to check marriage records of all justice of peace offices to find a man Victor who married a Robbin. You could hire someone to start with the principal justice of peace in Santo Domingo, then move to other main cities. There is no central system, so the person has to actually check the books one by one.

Since I don't know much about the subject, maybe my advice can help. You can contact the DR Consulat and ask them to send you the email or regular address or even fax numbers of every Justice of the Peace for every city in DR. It could be a lot of work. Is there any way you can find out more info on your friend who married that man. Maybe someone knows what city in DR she actually got married in..that would make it more easy for you. You can also hire a lawyer/investigator that deals with issues out of the country...a lawyer/investigator might be able to get the information quicker..but then again, that's why they can be expensive also. You can always call a lawyer for some advice regarding this issue. Good luck to you and let us know how it goes. Take care. Diane
