Virus spread

Dear Sirs,

Iam planning to visit DR in approximately 3 weeks from now, and I'm concerned regarding the virus spread I've been reading in the new recently. Please be so kind to inform me regarding the condition at DR and also possible measures that can be taken to avoid infection.

Also type in "virus" in the message board archive search. For some reason, this flu virus has been blown out of all proportion by people living outside of the DR, must make for good news in the media.

Apparently it's the same virus that most of Latin America is currently effected with.

I know of a couple of people that have had it, they are fine, just had the usual signs of a bad flu.

Hi all. Went to Santo Domingo on June 20. Caught a case of the "virus" from my host family. Suffered a sore throat for two (2) days with mild coughing. Drank lots of tea w/ fresh lemon, ate aloe vera concoctions, and now I am home feeling almost fine. It was neither a devastating nor unusual experience. The trip was great.
