I don't know what it's like from Germany, but I sent some mail from Canada and it took approximately two weeks to get to a home address in Santo Domingo. If you send via a private courier company (FedEx, etc.), it would probably go a lot faster but be much more expensive.

When i send mail through the U.S. mail system it takes an average of 10-14 days. A couple times it was as little as 7 days.(somebody must have made a mistake in the delivery). Cost $.80 - $1.00 normal letter. UPS is $27.50 for over night no weekends. global priority When I send on thursday or friday they receive it the following wednesday. I have tracked it once, mailed on Wednesday on saturday it left JFK. on wednesday it showed up to their customs (6:20am) delivered that afternoon. Rest of the time, no clue where it was. That was my first time global express. other time has been on thursday or fridays always shows up on wednesday. cost $18.00

When she mails a letter this way. about 10 days. She mails on Monday, i receive on wednesdays. cost RD$10-16.

The letter will probably arrive in Santo Domingo in a few days, especially if you use DHL, Fed Ex, etc. However, after that it is anybody's guess when/whether it will get to its destination. If the letter is going to a major population area, chances are it will get there. If the letter is going to a remote location, don't bet the rent.

When I mail a letter from Columbus, Ohio to Villa Francisco the capital, it takes 10 days, almost always. (they have always been delivered.) I have sent about 10 letters and small parcels to San Pedro de Macoris; only 3 ever arrived.

I've sent twice letters to Sto.Dgo by USA Posta Services none of the two ever got their destination. I didn't go to the post office to check what happened or what so ever. My family never got them so I got so disappointed that I don't send anymore mails to them. I've knew that the Dominican Postal Serv. is the worst in the entire earth. After my experience I guess that's true.

Are you sure, Tom? I tried to send something Global Priority and the US post office said that the Dominican Republic was not one of the countries they service with Global Priority mail. Did they just add it?

My experience with Airborne, UPS, DHL has been 3 days delivered, from Ohio USA

You are right global priority is not to the Dominican, but global express is. It cost me about $18.00. Mostly I have just sent documents through global express. I have used several times, less amount of time was 3 days, longest 7 days.
