Seeks Good Santo Domingo Hotel

I have been to Santo Domingo about 12 times. At first I stayed at the Hotel Napolitano but found the street noise too loud. I then moved to the Hotel Continental but have had a problem with the billing practices of the hotel management. Is there another clean, reasonably priced (45 to 55 us dollars) hotel in Santo Domingo that also allows a male guest to invite a female companion to his room.

I have stayed at the El Ambajador and found it to be excellent. It was recommended to me by DR1. Price in US dollars is about $66/night plus tax-last time the price included breakfast. Let me know if you need their telephone number.

I stayed two nights at Hotel Palacio (682-4730), in Zona Colonial (Duarte and El Conde, or so). It was a nice place, within your budget range ($55). I ignore if they are companion-friendly (I wouldn't imagine why not), but I would just call them and find out.

The Embajador is a pretty nice place. Off the beaten path. The service can vary greatly. I've had both good and bad experiences there. One time I was given a room with two of the smallest beds you'll ever see.

I've had rooms where the safe didn't work or the TV didn't work as well. Last time they screwed up my reservation and I had to stay at the Delta around the block the first night.

They will also charge you for female guests in your room from time to time.

I am going to be in Santoi Domingo Aug.5 - 8 and will be staying at the Coral Hamaca Beach Resort on Boca China, however I am having a difficult time finding out ANY information about the hotel. I would also like to find out the direct telephone number. Thanks for any info.

I have stayed there many times and there are lots of comments about this hotel if you search the old messages using "Hamaca".
