Tourist visa to Dominican Republic

I belong to Indian origin and I would like to visit Santo Dominigo as a Tourist. Do i need to get a tourist visa for this?

Some of the travel agents saying that nowadays there is no need for visa to visit Dominican Republic for Indian citizens. please clarify regarding this.
