A little something from the heart.

Dominican Republic

I really had no intention Of going back so many times, But ever since that first visit The country has been on my mind.

The Dominican Republic Keeps calling me back twice a year. The scenery is beautiful But it's the people I hold dear.

The beaches are magnificent. The countryside is very green. The mountains and the plantations To all these places I have been.

Do not just stay on a resort And never try to venture out. The countryside and villages Are what the place is all about.

Be sure to talk to the locals As much as you possibly can. After meeting the DR people, You will truly become a fan.

The country can be contagious. The Merengue is lots of fun. The nightlife is never-ending, And there is always lots of sun.

Cervasa and rum flow plenty No matter where you go. The smiling faces of locals Will warm even the coldest soul.

Twice a year to this place I go To see friends and enjoy the view. Someday I shall stay much longer And become part of the DR too.

thank you for the beautiful word that you used to describe my country. As i was reading your lines I was also seeing the beauty of my island, I could hear the ocean breeze , the wave hitting the shore, the green land marks that I so dearly played when I was a child. the sugarcanes that I use to eat everyday while I was in my mami backyard, but on august 26 with god will I will be back in my country enjoy everything you have describe. Because with time I am planning to move back to my paradise. Thank you for your postive expression of my country. I am proud to be DOMINICAN

Thank you very much Linda , this beautifull poem bring tears to my eyes, I could not describe it better I hope all Dominicans in DR1can reed it to > I am a Dominican AUSENTE" and you dont imagine how much I miss my country, eventough I have being absent for over 20 years I love US but Dominican is every day in my mind and hart and I can see the day were I go back for good.
