AA Airfare Sale

American Airlines has an airfare sale on from Miami and New York to Puerto Plata and return. Round trip price from Miami to Puerto Plata is $249 plus taxes. Round trip price from New York to Puerto Plata is $298 plus taxes.

i called AA yesterday and the chepest fair they would give me from bos to pop in sept. was 539.00 you figure it out?

look AA as a special fare from NY to puertoplata for $254+tax comes out to $299 and for the month of August the price is $354+tax comes out to $389.40 I just bought one for the month of August. but you have to go to an agency fot try and get this special fare, because when you call the air line direct, they don't give you the special fore rate. sometime they do depend the customer service rep you get.and another thing the majority of time the agencys buy a amount of ticket from the airline to sell it and those would be the special fare ticket, that why when you call sometime, the AAlines it give you high price.

I have not actually done this so I cant vouch for it, but I have heard that the airlines post their international fares 5am wednesdays, so if you want the lowest fare, you should try to buy it first thing Wednesday mornings, as they only sell a few seats at the lowest price. Its a bait and switch, but somehow legal. You will see American or someone else with super low fares, but when you try to get them, they are never available.

The travel agents that buy tickets and then resell them are called consolidators. Any good travel agent knows how to get in touch with these people and if you already have a good travel agent they can get you consolidator tickets. If you are flying out of an international hub, this works, as I have done this before: (It works for cruises, too) Buy a local paper, like NY Times LOCAL edition or Miami Herald, and look in the travel classifieds. those small ads with the low prices are consolidator fares. There are some disadvantages and restrictions to consolidator fares, but they generally are a good deal.

You can also fly with charter airlines. apple vacations puts together air/hotel packages and charters planes on a regular basis. You can buy the airfare only part and it tends to be pretty cheap (I hear their planes suck, though) For example, you can fly Cincinatti to Punta Cana non-stop for $399 round trip every saturday (last time I checked was 2 months ago)

Airfares in to Santo Domingo are the lowest they've been since November 1998. I know because I fly there every 3-4 weeks and I check the fares daily. A few days ago I purchased all my flights to Santo Domingo through and including December to take advantage of the savings. The last few months have been particularly expensive. The rules for the fares I was able to obtain require flights after 9/1/99.

The sale prices are only from Miami and New York right now. Hopefully other cities will be added soon.

I found fairs from 377.00 to 408.00 from cleveland Oh and from Columbus Oh going to sdq. For Oct and Nov of this year.

What sort of availability is there for December? I;m guessing things are pretty dry after the second week.
