Default Coral Costa Caribe

I will be making my first visit to the Dominican Republic this November. Will be staying at the Coral Costa Caribe. I would appreciate any information or comments from anyone familiar with this hotel or the surrounding area. Any advise on nearby places to visit, interesting tours, etc.? Do most of the hotel staff and those in area restaurants, stores, etc. speak English? I bought a book on Spanish & will be trying to learn some, but with my limited time I doubt I'll get very far in learning it.

Juan Dolio is in the middle of places to go. You can take a whole day excursion to Santo Domingo (the capital and first city in the New World), you can rent a car and drive to Altos de Chavon artistical village for a romantic late afternoon outing, and then visit Bayahibe beach or if you are more adventurous the Plantación Tropical in Hato Mayor. Also, the Rancho Capote and Cueva Fun Fun get excellent reviews (this is a underground cave experience). You can take a boat excursion to Catalina Island or Saona Island. Or you can go scuba diving and see wrecks off La Caleta (near Boca Chica and the Las Americas International Airport).

Your hotel has gotten good reviews. Check out the resort database (see the front page www.dr1.com

Juan Dolio has several good restaurants. Recently was at the Deli Swiss which was good. You will have no major language problems. Juan Dolio caters to tourists, so just bring your word book and you will get on fine.
