Is Hotel Palacio Acceptable?

I am considering staying at the Hotel Palacio during my next trip to Santo Domingo - October 13 to 18. I have never been at that hotel before. Is it clean and a recommended repeat stay? Thank you.

Hotel Palacio is very clean and modern inside. However, the area where the hotel is located at night is not the safest. It is a very nice hotel just use precautions when walking late at night around the colonial area.

It's acceptable for the price... This and Las Americas.. They are clean... sometimes you get a room where the air condition might not be the coolest.. but if you complain enough they'll switch your room and help you find a good one..

I think this is a charming little hotel and for the price it is really acceptable. I prefer the upper floor rooms. The inner courtyard is lovely. The colonial zone is for the most part safe at night, but you do need to take nomal precautions.

I must say that as far as neighborhoods go, the Palacio seems to me to be in a very good neighborhood. Of course crime is everywhere, and precautions should always be taken in a strange city at night. And I think, quite frankly, that the Palacio is one of the best bargains in the city of Santo Domingo. Really quite nice considering the reasonable price. Aida is around the same rate (a little less) and is not nearly as nice, though they do have balcony rooms over El Conde. Otherwise you'll have to go outside the Zona Colonial for this price.
