Default What became of Sonia Silvestre?

I render my apologies for posting a non-prostitution related question on this board but anybody out there on the DR side knows what became of Sonia Silvestre, my all-time favorite dominican singer?

Thanks and happy prostitution to everybody.

Sonia Silvestre, one of the legendary great Dominican singers of all times, is preparing a concert to celebrate her 30 years in show business. She has contracted Guillermo Cordero (one of the country's best producers) to do the production. Maestro Jorge Taveras will be the musical director. The show will be staged on 6 November at the Teatro La Fiesta of the Hotel Jaragua. She will be singing 20 of her best songs.

She recently recorded for Kubaney a collection of old boleros from the 50s and 60s. But she has complained that globalization has left little space for local artists, as local promoters prefer foreign performers.

At present she is employed at the Pagés Advertising Agency, and also at the Municipality of Santo Domingo on its culture board. She also is active helping with the presidential candidacy of Hipólito Mejía and Milagros Ortiz Bosch.

My top picks for Sonia's cream of the crop: "No me dejes no" (Ne me quitte pas, Jacques Brel) and El Valsecito (Valsinha, Chico Buarque de Holanda). I have those songs by their original authors since I collect both: "Grand Jacques" and "O Chiquinho". Nonetheless, Sonia's passionate and soulful singing makes them even more specials.

I found 2 cds in Amazon with some of the old favorite that would make many a dominican heart to embark on a nostalgia trip. Check them out. There some Sonia's essentials in there such as: Te amaré, Yo no te pido, Para vivir, Que será de ti, and the ones that I mentioned at the beginning, among others.

It is a shame that Amazon doesn't sell some "roncito criollo para acompañar".

Traten de no amargarse mucho.

Best regards,

JCesar
