Default DR Advice

I am coming to the DR on vacation from Nov. 19 - Dec. 1. I will be starting and ending in Boca Chica but was thinking of doing some traveling in between. My interests are diving and relaxing during the day, and sampling the local nightlife at night. Maybe some sightseeing also. I am NOT interested in an all-inclusive, I want to see the contry.

I am considering the North Coast (Peurto Plata/Sosua), Samana, and Santiago (I know there is no diving). I have heard that the North Coast diving is not too good at this time of year. Also that crackdowns have put a damper on nightlife in the North.

Any advice will be appreciated.

On your way to Santiago consider the mountains. Aim for Jarabacoa. Not much nightlife except for Saturdays but you'll find the most beautiful countryside you can imagine. Get in touch with Rancho Baiguate. I've been there several times and can only recommend it. You can stay at the ranch if you want and they arrange a lot different trips if you feel adventurous. River rafting, mountain biking, trekking, canyoning, etc. Could be both a fun and different way of seeing something out of the ordinary. Check it all out on the link below. Have a great trip!!!
