All warnings for the Dominican Republic are discontinued. At 11 pm AST...0300z...the center of hurricane lenny was located near latitude 16.2 north...longitude 67.0 west or about 170 miles...270 km...South-Southwest of San Juan Puerto Rico. Lenny is moving toward the East-Northeast near 16 mph...26 km/hr. A gradual turn toward the northeast is expected during the next 12 to 24 hours. On this track...the core of the hurricane will be nearing the warning area on Wednesday. Weather conditions will continue to worsen over the warning area throughout the night.
In Santo Domingo, it rained for about 5 minutes. At around 5 pm there were beautiful pink and gray skies. In the East, rains were heavy, but the sun is expected to shine tomorrow.
