Anyone stayed at Hotel Duque de Wellington lately?

I saw a review of this hotel in SD, seems very reasonable. Has anyone stayed there lately? Let me know what you think.. Thanks

I stayed there in October and was satisfied. The hotel is clean and they are attentive to your needs.

We TRIED to stay there the 1st week of October, but when they found out we only needed one night, they became "full" (even though the conversation started with "we have rooms available"). We have found that just around the corner from them is the el Senorial Hotel, not quite as snobbish and with much more reasonable rates. By the way, we OWN a hotel in the DR and are always looking and trying out different hotels so we know which ones to recommend to our guests. After our experience, we have scratched Hotel Duque de Wellington from our recommended list.

I actually love Duque du Wellington. For me it's perfect. Nothing fancy, that's for sure, but clean, reasonable and with friendly service. I can sympathize with the previous post about "no rooms available", but have never had that experience there. Right around the corner also is Maison Gautreaux, which has the best hot showers for a budget hotel in Santo Domingo.

I stayed at the Duque of Wellington in June and in October. One week each time and let's me tell you that it is A GREAT HOTEL. I stayed at other hotel for the same price ( 500 RD$/night) and it was not as clean and great. I recommend El Duque of Wellington. Room are clean and A/C works properly. I recommend it 100 %. For the price and location, it is good. In respect of maison GAUTREAU, it may have the best hot shower in town but it does not look clean from the outside. I do not know but I am sure that you would enjoy EL DUQUE. BTW, the staff is friendly and you do not have problem briging guess to your room (after they registered). Good buy. Goodluck.
