Default phone lines down?

Anyone know if the phone lines are down? Trying to call family on the North Coast for the last two days, it sounds fine, but all of a sudden turns into a "busy" line??

Thanks for any info! You may mail at anna@lime.no to let me know... Ricardo

what kind of phone is it? cell phones do that when the electricity is out and the batteries can't recharge. My guess for this one is that it is one of those "todos circuitos estan ocupados", all the circuits are busy due to so many people calling to find out how their people are.

I'm sure they are safe. Lenny did not hurt the D.R. (It rained a lot though). Have a look below under "Lenny -update".

NO WORRIES with regard to the north coast and Hurricane Lenny. I live in Sosua - last few days we've seen some torrential downpours but otherwise no problems at all. Remember, this is NOT unusual for this time of year (rainy season June - Dec). From what I understand the south coast has taken a slighty worse pounding than here, but again, no major cause for alarm (despite a few alarmist postings from some board regulars residing in the US!!) ....... hope this puts your mind at rest. Kind regards, Trevor.

Hurricane Lenny passed too far from the DR to make any difference. The rains that fell were no different from the rain we have been having for the past two months. It's been a rainy summer in the Caribbean. The good thing is that rains are usually short. Your family will tell you the hotel prepared them for the hurricane, but it never came.
