Default Review & Pics of Melia Caribe

I just returned from the Melia Caribe Resort in Punta Cana. You can read my review and see pics at: http://www.pineypower.com/caribe.htm . (A review of Natura Park is also on the site) I will be happy to try to answer any questions anyone may have about either resort.

Good review. Some nice pictures, and a very nice web page.

The bit about the in-room refrigerator was unsettling. Were in-room beverages supposed to be included? Did they explain why they never replaced it after you reported it didn't work? I've never heard of a resort making you restock it yourself.

It wasn't nice to hear that 4 of the premium restaurants were reservation only yet no reservations were available during your stay. That doesn't sound right.

The place overall sounds nice.

Yes, the refrigerator dilemma was frustrating - I had a staff member in looking at it shortly after arrival; he returned with a bottle opener, but after that I never saw him again. I told the maid about it the next day, and that evening after seeing it wasn't fixed or replaced, called Guest Services, and also told them we had not received water. That's when I was told it was NOT restocked and to get it from the bar! You're right, given the water problems in DR, this should NOT be the case, but since we only stayed 5 days, we gave up trying. In-room beverages were not specifically mentioned, but I would think bottled water is a necessity every day.

As far as the restaurants, I had heard this from a few other guests, so am assuming it was the case. I'm sure the glitches were due to the newness of Caribe and hope they will be cleared up soon, as I would like to return there on my next visit!

Thanks for your kind words about my website.

Cathy
