a Terrible Prison Fire, & Balaguer's "Secret"

Two stories from the "DR1 Daily News" gave me reason to step up on the Ol' soap box and say some thing about what I read, if anyone cares to listen.

~+~ "11 dead and 4 seriously burned in Victoria Jail fire" ~+~

This story was covered on "Univison" last nite and it makes my blood run cold thinking about the inhuman conditions that exist at La Victoria Prison. How many of the dead and injured prisoners were/ are innocent of any wrong doing or were/ are not charged with a crime? A quote from the "DR1" news: "La Victoria has capacity for 1,600 prisoners, but houses 3,384. . ." What a "HELL HOLE" this place must be!

~+~ "Balaguer presidential candidate impugned" ~+~

This piece centers on Balaguer's "dirty little secret", the assassination of the journalist Orlando Martínez. The former president has said that he *KNOWS* who the assassins are. Upon his death and only then will the information be made public. One must remember that Balaguer is nothing but a one time puppet with the bloody hands of Trujillo ("El Jeffe") on the strings.
