Hi Maureen. This is "Marty" responding from my work computer which is registered as "Mary".

The Iberostar was beside our hotel and seemed like another first class resort. Beautiful beaches and property. We took the Bavaro Runners Jeep Tour ($75.00US per person) which is an all day tour (8 - 5). You go through the countryside, sugarcane fields, mountains, visit a school, small community where they harvest cocoa, farm where you go horseback riding and have lunch, and to "Macao Beach", a deserted beach where the sand is the colour of brown sugar, with large waves. This area is where Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffiths are planning on building a resort in the near future. We really enjoyed this trip as it got us outside the "bubble zone" of our hotel. We took half travellers checks, half cash. Our hotel had a safe in the room. They take credit cards too. We are canadian, we had half US half canadian. No problem cashing at the hotel, however, a little hint. Your tour operator representative can exchange your currency for you, and she gave us a little better rate than the hotel. Enjoy your trip!!! Marty

Hi Marty! Your messages seemed very upbeat and so I thought you might be able to help me with a some questions I had about Punta Cana. Myself and two girlfriends are just about to book a weeks stay at the Bavaro Palace. What I'd like to know is is there anything to do in the area other than beach and pool it. I'm talking about boat trips or any organized day trips to interesting places. In addition, how is the nightlife and is this a place for three single mid-thirty year-olds? ANy help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Debbie

Hi,

My husband and I are taking our four kids, ages 2,4,10 and 11 to Punta Cana(Barcelo Bavero Resort)for eight days in December 2000. We plan on basically just lying around by the pool and beach but would like to do a few tours. Any suggestions? Kids would love to swim with dolphins. Thanks!
