just got back, what a place!

I just got back from a week in the DR--checking out schools, finding an apartment, etc etc. We also drove from Santo Domingo to Puerto Plata--a real highlight of the trip. SD is pretty funky, but the interior of the country is breathtaking. I had no idea. I would highly recommend this three hour drive (or four, depending on the traffic in Santiago) to anyone interested in seeing more that just the beach.
