Default D.R. music

HELP!

I need to find a song that i heard in D.R. last week. It starts with accustic guitars (climbing) and the whole song is calm. I don't know if it's a D.R. song or if it's from another country. I KNOW this doesn't say much but I want you e-mailbomb me with suggestions. Any ideas?? Perhaps someone knows a good radio toplist-site in D.R.??

Oj, om du inte har flere informationer, da blir det svärt, Putte!

Is the singer male or female, where did you hear the song, was it played often? Was it in Spanish or English? Can you remember a couple of words?

I have included a link to a site with traditional Dominican music - merengue, tipico and bachata - played by some of the most popular artist such as Los Toros Band, Luis Varga, Brenda etc. You can hear samples from some of their albums - maybe your song is among them.

Held og lykke Susanne

Jo jag vet.....!!!

Well!! I know I know I know..... Actually while writing this message I just remembered some more.... It is sung in spanish. Ummmmm! I think it is a male's voice, but sing high. The song is played in the same tempo throu whole song. And it's not very much merengue over the song. I guess you can call it a balade.

As I said, I've just remembered some more of the song. I could write the tabulature for guitar if someone could help me.. Mabey I could put down the song in a wav-file....

Hej igen, Putte

I haven't found out much more - unfortunately I can't imagine what the song sounds like.

However, I found the link for MTV in the Caribbean and their top 20. You can listen to samples from some of the favourite artists or maybe a name or two strikes a bell. Hopefully. Among todays' favourites are Ricky Martin (no surprise there), Iglesias Jr. (no surprise either) and Santana (hooray!). Also Backstreet Boys are back with a song that could be the one you are after, "Show Me The Meaning" which has a LOT of acustic guitars playing, but is sung in English.

Well, good luck anyway. And let me know the result. You have made me all curious.

Regards, Susanne

Hi again... I'm back!! (

Okey! I've just finished my recording (I guess this one is for you Susanne... you've probably the only one caering). Click on the link below. Hope some one knows this song... As I was writing. It's a spanish sung song and keeps basicly the same tempo all song . The first round of the song is how the song really starts (could be the wrong chords tough!). 2:nd round there is a vocal (played with guitar).

OK! I've heard this song played in several places i Kabarete (one weak ago... Estrella del mar, Las brisas...).

Tried your link, but it was not running. In HMV last week and heard music that was very familiar from my trip in January so i bought the cd they were playing. It is called "Putumayo Presents Republica Dominica". copyright 2000 , code #PUTU 162-2 so it is current. Their website www.putumayo.com might have samples on it. Although Putumayo is New York based, their promo says that some of proceeds from their sales goes to Bayahonda Cultural Foundation so it could be a worthwhile purchase even if your song is not on it.
