A different sort of vacation...

For those of you who have had bad luck with resort travel, I'd like to suggest short term mission trips as an alternative. You'll get to enjoy the county, know some Dominicans on a more personal level and make a positive impact on lives and living conditions in a poor nation. I have personally made lifelong friends and connections by doing this over the past seven years. My experiences have been vastly different from what I read in many of the postings here.

Hi Sarah; My wife and I have made a trip to the DR recently ( a resort holiday) but we spent more time off resort property in order to meet locals. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are quite anxious to return.
