visitation

I have a friend that lives in the Dominican that I would like to invite to visit the US. I am wondering if anyone can give me information on timeframes to get, what is needed or how difficult it is to obtain, costs,etc. for them to obtain a passport and what they would need to do. I have found some information about a visitors visa, but have been unsuccessful with the passport information. If anyone knows a website or who I should contact otherwise, that would also be helpful. Also if there is anything specific that I might need to do. Greatly appreciated!

If your friend is a Dominican citizen; there is no problem in getting a Dominican Passport. He will need documentation on dob;photos and pay for two or more years as he wishes.

The problem in getting to the US would be in obtainimg a USA Visa through the American Counsulate in Santo Domingo. They are quite cautious in granting visitor visas. Your friend will have to check that out.

Thanks for the info. Yes my friend is a Dominican citizen. He seems to think that there will be more difficulty in getting the passport than the visa. Do you know anymore about the process or timeframes it may take? I'm not sure also what you meant by the part "and pay for two or more years as he wishes" can you clarify? All of this stuff is new to both of us, and things are much more complicated than in the US. Thanks for the info and any more you may have.
