Default Illegal companies?

Hi there,
how can I find out, if a company located in DR is officially registered and thereby legal? I got a job offer by a firm in DR but I guess as long as the company is not registered in DR, the contract won't be worth its paper prize. Am I right? I appreciate any comment or advice. Thanks in advance. :-)

Hi Maria. It could probably wind up costing you time and money to find out the bottom line on a company in the DR. I have a hunch who your talking about. Why don't you mention the name, there could be people out there who have had experience with that company, or post an e-mail where someone can get back to you on a more personal basis.

Maybe you should contact the department of Labor or the Chamber of Commerce.......maybe they can help! But I agree with Eddy, you should mention the name of the firm.

Default It is ilanguage.com

Hi Eddy, CeCe and all of the other people!
Although I am in general interested in how to find out about a company's official registration in DR, right now I would like to know if ilanguage.com is legally registered or if it would be illegal to work for them. Any other infos about this company, experience of people working there etc. are appreciated. If you like, you can send me information to my e-mail address. I am curious if you meant the same campany, Eddy. :-)
Respect, Maria

There a couple of easy ways to find out if the company is operating within the law. First, ask for the company "RNC" number (tax number). Every operating company should have one. By law they should have it on all receipts and even the stationery. Second, assuming the salary offered is more than RD$8,600 pesos month, have they talked to you about withholding taxes? Withholding is mandatory above that salary level.

There have been inquiries in the past about ilanguage. As their offices are right accross the street from the Condos where I live, I see the employees to back and forth to work every day. They appear to be well organized. As for legality, perhaps if there are ex-employees monitering this board, they could give you further information. P.S. My huntch was right.
