I read in the archives that you need a passport, birthcertificate, and a singles cerificate(?) Can someone tell me what that is and where I would get it?

Thanks..

If you are planing on getting married, you need to show that you are single or divorced.I had a notary public write out a short history of dates as to when I was married and then divorced,I signed it and she notarized it.While in the D.R. I also had to file a form that one of the Dominican goverment offices provided, stating that I was single. This cost 55 dollars to file

So what if you were never married? Then the only form you would need is that goverment one? Or should I type something up and have it notorized, but isn't like just like a sworn statment vs. a certificate? Help.....

I got married in the DR and went to a local abogado (advocate/notary public), depending on where you are you'll find one on practically every street corner, I showed my passport and birth certificate and he typed up a document which said that I was single and free to marry - cost very little - about £20 I think - that was three years ago but prices don't change that much!! Are you planning on living in the DR or taking your partner back to????
