what did whe celebrate today (or on friday?) ?
The birthday (188.th) or the "death-day" of PABLO DUARTE.
What I know and my kids say from school, its the death-day, but a friend write in german DR news, its the birthday anniversary, depend to her Papers.
That say:
"...la República Dominicana conmemora hoy el 188 aniversario
del nacimiento de uno de los Padres de la Patria, Juan Pablo Duarte..."
So now whe are confuse......because of the date its d-d.

of course Duck, but in some news it does say it's the D-D. and even the kids get this info in school.
Paper not always say the truth.....

Charly, from what I recall from my Dominican history teachers (they were oh so great teachers, by the way), Juan Pablo Duarte was born on 1813. Friday would have been his 188th birthday. I believe he died in 1876. Hope this helps.
